Real Life

As children we have this idealist view of what life is all about.  We spend our days dreaming of our future husbands and families all the while thinking that it will be somewhat like our barbie playhouse.  Barbie, the perfect (anatomically incorrect) figure, perfect baby and obviously perfect husband.

We take Barbie and put her in her cute pink convertible and ride all around town.  Then send her home to her 2 story fully furnished house with a swimming pool in the back yard.

I don't know about y'all but that's not how my life started out.  Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining I just wish some how I could have had a more realistic view of the world.  I can't say my Mom didn't try to warn me.  But you just can't teach real life to kids can you?? I'm thinking maybe I should have sat down with my daughter early on and made some fundamental changes to Barbie and her perfect home.  That way maybe she would see the world in a different light.  I would draw a big mole on Ken's face and give them a white mini van to drive around in. And you can forget about a pool with a diving board,  I would have a small baby pool the size of a thimble.  The one thing they did get right was the tight clothes you can barely squeeze Barbie's hips into.  Let's face it clothes will never fit the same again:)  The reality of it is you must give up what YOU want on a daily basis and let the others have their way.  Once you have children that's exaggerated 100 times over.  Forget EVER doing what you want EVER again.  hahaha!  OK, not that bad, but sort of!  So for now my dreams of Barbie Princess are on hold.  I will do my very best to prepare my children for what lies ahead especially my daughter.  When you are well taken care of as a child I think it's much harder to face the difficulties later in life.  Lord help me to be unselfish and a servant to my family daily.  Maybe I should come up with my own doll, an alternative to Barbie...I could name them "REALITY PEOPLE!"  I'm thinking it probably won't sell:)  hahaha!
